Meet Divorce Financial Analyst Gloria Patterson

             When financial planner Gloria Patterson got divorced in 1998, she noticed that there was a definite “gap” in the services available to individuals facing divorce. She acted upon her observations by founding Divorce Advisors, Inc., forging “a new concept to divorce . . . providing a means to an end.” Whether one is just contemplating divorce or in the throes of divorce, Gloria facilitates an understanding of the overwhelming economic aspects of divorce.  She combines her extensive background as a Certified Financial Planner™ with her Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® expertise in an effort to help individuals achieve a financially equitable settlement. Gloria’s expertise is highly sought after and repeatedly proves helpful to individuals facing divorce.

“All couples start out by thinking they want to be fair to each other,” Gloria says. “But as they move through the process of divorce the idea of “fair” often changes. Dividing the “marital pie” can be a challenging ordeal. Just about the last thing people feel like doing when they’re getting divorced is crunching numbers.” This is where Gloria steps in, providing an array of services including assisting with pre-divorce analysis, financial affidavits, settlement offer negotiations, attending mediations and if the case goes to court, providing litigation support and expert testimony. “Simply put, we keep our clients on track from beginning to end so they don’t end up in a financial train wreck.”

Gloria grew up in New Jersey and after high school enjoyed a career with American Airlines as a flight attendant, stationed in Chicago. However, it soon became obvious that Gloria was destined for the business world when she was offered an opportunity to become administrative assistant to Bud Tarrson, President of Butler Toothbrush. Since moving to Florida in 1972, Gloria has enjoyed living in the Clearwater area and has been continuously active in the community. Most recently she served a two-year term as chairperson of the Suncoast Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees and was recipient of the 2001 Distinguished Trustee Award. Gloria has also gained notoriety in the community with her public speaking engagements and in particular her work related to educating women in financial matters. Some of her favorite spare-time activities include regular workouts at the gym, reading mysteries, boating and traveling. Her travels have included trips to Spain, Australia and Japan, the latter as a member of Largo’s Sister City Program.
